PAR refers to parabolic aluminized reflector lights. Before PAR LED lights became popular, PAR lights (also called PAR cans or PAR lamps) were mainly used for theatre productions. The reason that they are so useful for theatre is because the PAR lamps are designed with a lens and a reflector. This makes them very useful for providing large amounts of flat light to a scene. PAR LED lamps use this same design but, instead of halogen bulbs, use energy-efficient light emitting diodes. All PAR LED lights will be listed with a number after them, such as PAR LED 20. The number refers to the diameter of the base. To calculate the diameter, you should divide the number by 8.

While PAR LED lamps are now mostly used for home or commercial use, they are slowly becoming popular in theatres. The benefit of PAR LED lamps in theatres is that they can produce stunning colours based on green, red and blue just by adjusting the intensity of the groups of colours. Since the PAR LED lamps can be made with these colours built in, there is no need to use colour gels.

Miliband denied allegations of splits within the shadow cabinet concerning whether or not to accept coalition spending cuts. Miliband asserted that he relished being in opposition though he “always knew” being in opposition was “going to be a fight”. Mr. Miliband told the Guardian newspaper that ...
